Fei Xia is a Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Washington, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania (2001). Her research focuses on computational linguistics and natural language processing, encompassing tasks like morphological analysis, machine translation, and grammar extraction.
She teaches courses in the Ling 570-573 series and a computational linguistics seminar. She collaborates with CLMS faculty to organize graduate student planning meetings and supervise final projects and theses. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with applied NLP technologies.
