Federico Carbone

Federico Carbone is an Associate Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine and Medical Specialties (DIMI) within the School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Genoa. He actively contributes to academic governance as a Member of the School Council, Department Board, and Scientific Council of the University Service Center for Simulation and Advanced Training (SIMAV).

His research focuses on internal medicine, particularly vascular disease in diabetic patients, inflammatory biomarkers in stroke, and novel applications of imaging and EEG monitoring in critical care. He is also involved in medical education and simulation training.

Recent publications highlight his work on the Brixia Chest X-ray severity score for predicting outcomes in COVID-19 patients, PCSK9 in diabetes-related vascular disease, and osteopontin as a biomarker in cardio-metabolic medicine.
