Federico Berti

Federico Berti serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Trieste. He holds key administrative positions including Coordinator of the Boards of Studies, Member of the Department's Board, and Member of Doctoral Studies Boards. As Delegate for Knowledge Transfer in the Head's Office, he bridges academic research with practical applications.

His research spans multiple critical areas in organic chemistry:

• Natural Products synthesis, identification and biological activity evaluation
• Biosensor technologies for agro-food safety monitoring
• Green chemistry and sustainable processes development
• Serine derivatives stability and enzymatic hydrolysis
• Carbamic derivatives of chloramphenicol and thiamphenicol

Professor Berti leads significant European Commission-funded research including 'Greener materials, greener processes and greener technologies' (2023-2029) and contributes to projects addressing cellular senescence and immune system rejuvenation. His work demonstrates strong integration between fundamental organic chemistry research and real-world applications in food safety and environmental sustainability.

As Coordinator of Boards of Studies, he oversees doctoral programs including CHEMISTRY Cycle XXXIX (DR17) and provides administrative leadership for multiple research grants totaling millions in funding. His collaborative approach is evident through partnerships with researchers across Italy and Europe.

He actively participates in the Biosensors Research Group focused on 'Natural Products: synthesis, identification and evaluation of the biological activity; Biosensor technologies for agro-food detection,' driving innovation in detection methodologies for food contaminants and infectious agents.
