Faruque Riffat

Clinical Associate Professor Faruque Riffat is a staff specialist ENT/Head and Neck Surgeon at Westmead Clinical School, University of Sydney. He specializes in head and neck oncological surgery, thyroid/parathyroid surgery, and adult airway open/endoscopic laser surgery. He joined the Westmead ENT/Head Neck team in 2012 after working as a consultant in Cambridge University Hospitals and leads the Westmead Tracheostomy Liaison Service.

Research Interests:
His clinical and academic focus includes head and neck cancer, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, larynx laser surgery, and sinus surgery. He has published extensively in these areas and is actively involved in both clinical innovation and surgical education.

Teaching & Supervision:
He is deeply committed to surgical education, having completed a master’s in surgical education and regularly conducting group tutorials. He has supervised numerous trainees and has been an invited speaker at national and international ENT and head and neck conferences.

Clinical Leadership:
In addition to his surgical practice, he co-convenes head and neck sections at major conferences such as ASOHNS ASM and the World Congress on Larynx Cancer. His work is primarily based at Westmead Hospital, where he continues to lead both clinical care and academic training.
