Faisal R Jahangiri

Faisal R Jahangiri is an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), affiliated with the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences. His expertise lies in neurophysiology and Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring (IONM), focusing on minimizing neurological deficits during surgeries. He holds certifications including Diplomate American Board of Neurophysiologic Monitoring (2003) and MBBS from Khyber Medical College (1991).

Professional preparation includes a Mini Fellowship in Movement Disorders (University of Nebraska Medicine Center, 2020) and Certification in IONM (ABRET, 2000). His research spans neurophysiological monitoring in spinal surgeries, epilepsy, and deep brain stimulation. He has published extensively on topics like spinal cord mapping, motor evoked potentials, and IONM applications in high-risk procedures.

Dr. Jahangiri has received multiple awards, including the ASNM Outstanding Publication Award (2021) and Excellence in Education Award (APPNA, 2018). He currently chairs ASNM’s Membership Committee and directs the Global Innervation LLC Postdoctoral Fellowship in Surgical Neurophysiology. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neurophysiological Monitoring and Associate Editor of the Neurodiagnostic Journal.

His projects include studies on dexmedetomidine’s effects on MEPs and facial nerve monitoring during parotidectomy. He actively presents at international conferences such as the Mediterranean Epilepsy Congress and the Saudi Association of Neurological Surgery meetings.
