Fabio Proia is a Researcher in German Language, Translation, and Linguistics at the University of International Studies of Rome (UNINT) since December 2008. He holds a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature (German and English) from the University of Roma Tre (1993) and has extensive international experience, including a DAAD scholarship at Ludwig Maximilian University (Munich, 1990) and teaching roles at Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University (Greifswald, 1997–1999). He is a certified technical-scientific translator (AITI) and actively contributes to research groups such as UNINTerm and the Observing Eurolects Network (OEN).
His research focuses on gender issues in German language, legal linguistics/translation between German and Italian, and bilingual lexicography. He co-created the GEROM terminology database with Dr. Claudio Fantinuoli (University of Mainz) and coordinates the UNINTerm terminology research group established in 2023.
Proia’s professional affiliations include the Italian Association of German Studies (AIG), the Italian Association for Terminology (Ass.I.Term), and the Deutscher Terminologie-Tag eV (DTT). His work integrates corpus linguistics and technology-driven approaches to translation and terminology.
