About
Fabienne Goldfarb serves as a Lecturer at the Light, Material and Interfaces Laboratory (LuMIn - Université Paris-Saclay, ENS Paris-Saclay, CNRS, CentraleSupélec) and Deputy Director of Education at the Institute for the Sciences of Light. Her career spans fundamental research in quantum optics while maintaining strong connections to practical applications through industry collaborations, particularly with Thales Research and Technology.
Goldfarb's research focuses on light-matter interactions, beginning with fundamental work on electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and metastable helium, then expanding to laser dynamics and microwave optics. Her current work explores Rydberg atom sensors for radiofrequency field detection and spin noise spectroscopy. Her research demonstrates a clear trajectory from purely fundamental physics to applications with potential engineering significance, reflecting her commitment to both theoretical understanding and practical implementation.
As Deputy Director of Education at the Institute for the Sciences of Light, Goldfarb oversees educational initiatives across a network of 26 laboratories involving approximately 700 researchers. She has also been teaching optics at the Orsay Technical Institute since 2005, developing practical laboratory exercises that incorporate components from her research.
Goldfarb maintains significant industry connections through her work at LuMIn, which includes a joint laboratory with Thales Research and Technology. She previously coordinated PhD training quality control from 2011-2015 and has long been involved in continuing education and validation of acquired experience (VAE) programs, strengthening the university-industry relationship.
