Fabian Muniesa is a Professor and Research Director at Mines Paris – PSL (École des Mines de Paris), affiliated with the Centre de Sociologie de l'Innovation (CSI) and part of i3. He holds positions at Columbia University, Goldsmiths, and the International University College of Turin. His research focuses on economic sociology, finance sociology, and science and technology studies. Key interests include financial capitalism, market algorithms, innovation policy, and valuation practices.
Education: MSc from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1997), PhD from CSI (2003), postdoctoral fellowship at the London School of Economics (2003–2005). Joined CSI as a permanent researcher in 2005.
Teaching includes courses on market sociology and financialization at Mines Paris and PSL University. Active in doctoral supervision and program leadership at CSI. Notable projects include the ERC-funded PERFORMABUSINESS and the Observatory for Responsible Innovation (2011–2021).
Recent publications explore paranoid finance, value estrangement, and the cultural economy. He co-founded Valuation Studies and chairs the Journal of Cultural Economy editorial board.
