Jérôme Denis

Jérôme Denis is a Professor at the Centre de Sociologie de l'Innovation (CSI) within Mines Paris - PSL. His research focuses on the sociology of data work, urban infrastructure maintenance, and the material politics of sociotechnical systems. Collaborating with David Pontille, he co-develops the field of Maintenance and Repair Studies, emphasizing the importance of maintenance in contrast to innovation-centric frameworks.

His recent publications analyze urban maintenance practices, such as subway signage and graffiti removal, alongside the fragility of data infrastructures. Key themes include the interplay between visibility/invisibility, the ordering of technical objects, and the ethnographic study of everyday repair work.
