Ewan Harrison

Ewan Harrison is a Lecturer in Architectural Studies at the University of Manchester, associated with the Manchester School of Architecture (MSA). His research explores intersections of architectural practice, capitalism, and colonialism in post-war Britain and British-controlled Africa, with a focus on the roles of commercial architects, contractors, and clients in shaping modernist narratives.

• PhD from the University of Liverpool

Research interests include colonial architecture, mercantile architecture, and queer architectural historiography. Recent works examine British corporate investments in West African urbanism and tropical modernism, with forthcoming monographs on Richard Seifert and the United Africa Company.

Collaborations span institutions like the University of Liverpool and Royal Institute of British Architects. He co-chairs the LGBTQIA+ Network of the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain.
