Eugene Buckley is an Associate Professor of Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania, affiliated with the School of Arts & Sciences and the Department of Linguistics. His research focuses on formal phonology, metrical and syllable structure, and the interplay between phonology and morphology. He also explores phonetic and functional explanations in phonological theory, the representation of spoken language categories in writing systems, and specializes in Native American (Kashaya, Alsea), Ethio-Semitic (Tigrinya), and Manam linguistics.
