Esther Galliker is a Lecturer at the Institute of Communication and Marketing (IKM) within the Lucerne School of Business at Hochschule Luzern (HSLU). She holds a Dr. phil. from the University of Wuppertal (2014) and a lic. phil. from the University of Zürich (2005). Her professional roles include being Managing Director of Galliker Baumgartner GmbH (2020–present), Project Manager for the Open Education Platform (2016–2019), and Researcher in the SNF-Dore Project (2006–2010). Her expertise spans professional communication, academic writing, discourse rhetoric, conversation analysis, and sociolinguistics.
Her research focuses on youth language in German-speaking Switzerland, stylistic variation, and the intersection of technology and communication in agile teams. Notable projects include investigating hospitality communication through ethnographic studies and analyzing linguistic innovation in youth discourse. Recent publications include work on technology-supported communication in hybrid meetings and the role of dialect in Swiss German youth speech.
Dr. Galliker has contributed to numerous conferences and authored/co-authored books such as Bricolage: Ein kommunikatives Genre im Sprachgebrauch Jugendlicher aus der Deutschschweiz (2014). She is active in academic organizations like the GAL (Gesellschaft für Angewandte Linguistik) since 2007 and serves on the board of the Dozierendenverband of HSLU since 2016.
