About
Esra Zengin serves as Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Beykent University's Faculty of Engineering and Architecture since 2022, following prior academic roles as Doctor Lecturer at Çankaya University (2018-2020) and Research Assistant at Bogazici University's Earthquake Engineering Department (2011-2016).
Her research specializes in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Engineering with focus areas including Istanbul ground motion simulation, near-fault record modification using instantaneous power analysis, and structural health monitoring via shear-wave travel times. She investigates seismic behavior of modern infrastructure and historical structures like minarets while developing advanced ground motion selection/scaling methodologies for nonlinear dynamic analysis.
Publications from 2011-2021 demonstrate concentrated work on stochastic ground motion modeling for Turkish seismic zones, vector-valued intensity measures for near-fault regions, and shear-wave travel time applications in damage detection. Collaborations with Çakti, Akkar, and Şafak Erdal feature prominently across international conferences including the World Conference on Earthquake Engineering.
