Erwin Bodky

Erwin Bodky (1896-1958) was a German-American music scholar renowned for his expertise in early music interpretation and J.S. Bach's works. He held academic positions at the Scharwenka Conservatory (Berlin), Longy School of Music (1938-1948), and became Brandeis University's first music professor (1950). His research emphasized authentic performance practices, using historical instruments like the harpsichord. Bodky pioneered early music recordings with L'Anthologie Sonore and co-founded the Cambridge Society for Early Music.
