Erum Haider is Assistant Professor of Political Science, Environmental Studies, and South Asian Studies at the College of Wooster. Her research examines the privatization of public goods in urban Pakistan, with focus on water and electricity service delivery.

Research interests include comparative identity politics, urban governance, and the intersection of service delivery with political representation in hybrid regimes. Her fieldwork in Karachi and Lahore investigates how citizens navigate privatized services through political intermediaries.
Current projects explore ethnic dimensions of infrastructure access and the role of criminal networks in service provision. She holds a Henry Luce III Distinguished Scholarship Grant (2023-25) and is a Research Fellow at the Mahbub ul Haq Research Center in Lahore.
