Erica Toothman

Erica Toothman is a Teaching Professor and Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Sociology & Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at the University of South Florida, within the College of Arts and Sciences. She joined USF in 2013 after earning her Ph.D. from Florida State University. Her research focuses on medical sociology, gender, aging, bodily studies, and quantitative methods, with recent emphasis on online teaching development in introductory Sociology and Social Science Statistics. She has been recognized with the 2016 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award.

Professionally, she serves on multiple committees, including the Sociology Department’s Undergraduate and Colloquium Committees, as well as the College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Committee. Her role emphasizes undergraduate education and curriculum development.
