Eric Reckwerdt is a Teaching Professor in the Computer Science department at the University of Colorado Boulder. He holds a BS from the University of Puget Sound and a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (2016). His research focuses on applying advanced mathematical principles in applied contexts, with interests in geometric group theory, operator algebras, and complexity classes. He previously conducted research at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.
Reckwerdt is passionate about online education and interactive learning tools, advocating for their role in making complex concepts more intuitive. He contributes to initiatives like Explorable Explanations and the Distill journal. Outside academia, he enjoys hiking in the mountains, playing music with his project Fantasyland, and spending time with his aging flame-point Siamese cat, Cornelius.
