Eric DeGroff is a Professor at Regent University School of Law, where he has served since 1994. He holds a J.D. (Valedictorian) from Regent University, an M.P.A. from the University of Southern California, and a B.A. (cum laude) from the University of Kansas. His roles include Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (2015), Associate Dean for Academic Support (1998–2000), and Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs (1995–1998). He currently serves on the Virginia Waste Management Board and formerly edited the Chemical Waste Litigation Reporter (2013–2021).
DeGroff's research focuses on environmental regulation, parental rights, public education, and legal pedagogy. He has authored over 20 scholarly works including the RCRA/CERCLA Enforcement Issues Outline (revised annually since 1994) and co-authored federal environmental rulemaking guides. His recent work examines CERCLA contribution claims, Chevron deference, and learning style adaptation in law schools.
Professional affiliations include Chair of the Virginia State Bar Environmental Law Section (2016–2017), Chair of the Virginia Bar Association's Natural Resources Section (2009–2011), and leadership roles in the ABA Dispute Resolution Section. He maintains active membership in the Virginia and U.S. Supreme Court Bars.
