Eric D. Carter

Eric D. Carter is the Edens Professor of Geography and Global Health at Macalester College, where he also serves as Department Chair. His interdisciplinary research focuses on medical geography, political ecology, and the history of public health in Latin America. He holds a B.A. in History from UC Berkeley (1994), and M.A./Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (1999/2005). His work includes two major books: *Enemy in the Blood: Malaria, Environment, and Development in Argentina* (2012) and *In Pursuit of Health Equity: A History of Latin American Social Medicine* (2023), recognized with the Elinor Melville Prize and supported by Fulbright and ACLS fellowships. He teaches courses on health geography, environmental hazards, and Latin American societies. Affiliated with Macalester’s Community and Global Health programs and Latin American Studies, he has conducted research in Argentina, Chile, and Costa Rica. His editorial roles include Associate Editor for *Journal of Latin American Geography* and former Book Review Editor for *Journal of Latin American Geography*.
