Eric Chalfant is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Film and Media at Queen’s University. He has previously taught at Elon University and Portland Community College. He earned his PhD from Duke University (2016), MA from Wake Forest University (2011), and BA from Whitman College (2008).
- Research Interests: Intersections of media studies, religious studies, and affect theory; material media analysis; sound culture studies; interface studies; algorithmic and network culture.
- Key Projects: A book-length study on media archaeology of North American atheist media (print, broadcast, digital) and another project exploring media, religion, and affect studies through the lens of 'noise' and divination.
- Media Archaeology: Examines how changing media forms (print, radio, digital) shaped atheist subjectivity, from 19th-century openness to Reddit's networked speed.
- Advising: Serves as MA and PhD Co-Supervisor.
