Eric Boerwinkle is the Dean and M. David Low Chair in Public Health at the UTHealth School of Public Health, with a faculty appointment in the Department of Epidemiology since 1986. His research integrates human genetics and statistics to investigate the epidemiology and genetics of chronic diseases (e.g., cardiovascular disease, dementia) and rare single-gene disorders. He has led team-science initiatives resulting in over 1,000 peer-reviewed publications in top-tier journals like Science, Nature, and New England Journal of Medicine, some of which have translated into clinical practices and pharmaceutical innovations.
