Emine Cokgor

Prof. Dr. Emine Cokgor is a Professor of Environmental Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) since 2009, with prior roles as Associate Professor (2003–2009) and Assistant Professor (1998–2003). Her work focuses on treatment plant design, environmental biotechnology, and waste management. She holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from ITU (1993–1997) and has extensive experience in academic research and industry collaborations.

Publications: Over the past decade, her research has focused on optimizing bioprocesses for energy recovery, mitigating pharmaceutical impacts on microbial communities, and improving nutrient removal efficiency in membrane bioreactors. Recent work emphasizes synergistic thermal treatments for plastic and sewage sludge valorization.
