Emily Stern

Emily Stern is a Senior Lecturer at Otis College of Art and Design and a practicing artist based in Brooklyn. Her professional background includes exhibitions at Kentler International Drawing Space, Pierogi Gallery, McKenzie Gallery, Forge Gallery, and ABA Gallery in Brazil. She co-authored the book Starting Your Career in Art Education (Allworth Press, 2013).

Research Focus: Stern's work investigates the metaphorical potential of scale and spatial poetics through mixed-media drawings. She employs color, shape, and line as tools to examine relationships in physical and conceptual space, drawing interdisciplinary connections to anthropology (ethnographic textiles), science (electron microscopy), design history, and film. Her practice serves as a commentary on contemporary social and technological networks.
