Cathy Lightfoot

Cathy Lightfoot is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Otis College of Art and Design, teaching in the Foundation and Creative Action programs since 2005. She holds an MFA in Painting from California Institute of the Arts and a BFA in Painting from The Cooper Union.

Her research focuses on contemporary painting practices, color theory, and abstract visual expression. She explores the interplay of light, color, and form through innovative painting techniques and interdisciplinary approaches.

Lightfoot has received recognition including the Anonymous Was a Woman nomination (2016) and an Otis Faculty Development Grant (2014). Her work has been exhibited in prominent galleries such as Shoshana Wayne, Sherry Frumkin, and Rosamund Felsen, with solo exhibitions including Upcoming Solo Exhibition (2023) and Tail Light Scrolls (2020).
