Emily Downes

Emily Downes is a Lecturer in the Film, Video, Animation & New Genres Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). She holds an MFA and BA in Film, Video, Animation and New Genres from UWM. Her interdisciplinary art practice spans video, animation, photography, music, and puppetry, focusing on personal narratives and symbolic exploration to foster broader human connections.

Her experimental works have been showcased globally at venues such as the Cannes Film Festival’s Short Film Corner, the Milwaukee Film Festival, and Demolden Art Gallery in Spain. She maintains an active creative presence through exhibitions and festivals, emphasizing themes of memory, dreams, and cultural symbols.
