Sam Drake

Sam Drake is a Film Lecturer and MFA candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), affiliated with the Film, Video, Animation & New Genres Department. Her work focuses on experimental and independent cinema, exhibited globally at venues such as the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Media City Film Festival, and Transient Visions Festival of the Moving Image.

Education: MFA in Cinematic Arts from UW-Milwaukee.

Research & Creative Work: Sam’s practice emphasizes innovative approaches to film and new media, reflecting her engagement with avant-garde and interdisciplinary art forms. Her work has been showcased in over a dozen festivals, highlighting her exploration of narrative structure, visual experimentation, and the intersection of technology with traditional filmmaking.

Programming & Teaching: She has programmed events for UWM Union Cinema and Mini Microcinema, fostering community engagement with experimental film. As a Lecturer, she mentors students in cinematic arts and contributes to UWM’s academic programs.
