Els Consuegra

Els Consuegra is an Associate Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), affiliated with the Multidisciplinary Institute of Teacher Education (MILO) and the Centre of Expertise on Gender, Diversity and Intersectionality. She holds a PhD in Educational Sciences (2015) and has been full-time faculty since 2018. Her work focuses on teacher development with emphases on equity, inclusion, and intersectionality.

Education: PhD in Educational Sciences (VUB, 2015). Postdoctoral research at VUB (2015-2016).

Research Interests:

• Pre-service/in-service teacher training
• Gender bias mitigation in classrooms
• STEM education implementation
• Data-driven decision-making

Her methods include longitudinal studies combining surveys and video observations. Recent projects address ethnic achievement gaps and data coaching for schools.

She currently supervises four PhD students and has led 13 research projects. Active governance roles include: Vice-President of MILO, Chair of VUB's Inclusive Education Commission, and board member of Scholengroep Brussel Onderwijs.
