Ellen Burnes

Ellen Burnes is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado Boulder. She holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Economics from Oregon State University, an MBA from the University of Texas Austin, and a BA from Allegheny College.

Her research interests focus on Finance, Natural Resource Economics, Infrastructure Investment, Sustainable Finance, and Global Financial Advisory. Ellen’s professional experience includes global financial advisory roles in infrastructure and natural resource investment, with projects spanning water rights pricing in Southern California and rail technology acquisition in Sydney, Australia.

She currently serves as Board Chair for Mental Health Partners, a $48M behavioral health services company, integrating her financial expertise with community impact.
