Dr Elizabeth White is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries, and Education (ACE) at the University of the West of England. Her expertise spans the history of human rights, childhood, the socialist bloc, and the Cold War. She holds a PhD in Soviet History from the University of Birmingham, an MSt in Slavonic Studies from Oxford, and a BA in Russian Studies from Leeds.
Her current research includes a BA/Leverhulme-funded project on the UN's role in creating children's rights frameworks during the Cold War and an AHRC-funded interdisciplinary study on young refugees in Bristol. She teaches Soviet/Russian history, humanitarianism, and refugee studies.
Her work has been supported by grants from the British Academy, Leverhulme Trust, and AHRC. Notable publications include A Modern History of Russian Childhood (2020) and articles on refugee legal status, Cold War humanitarianism, and post-war displacement.
