Matthias Neumann is a Professor of Modern History at the University of East Anglia (UK), serving as Head of the School of History and Art History. He is also President of the British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES). His research focuses on Soviet childhood/youth history and Cold War cultural diplomacy, with notable works including The Communist Youth League and the Transformation of the Soviet Union, 1917-1932 (Routledge, 2011) and co-editing Rethinking the Russian Revolution as Historical Divide (2017). Current projects examine Cold War-era American-Soviet youth exchanges.
