Elizabeth Wewiora

Elizabeth Wewiora is a visual artist, curator-producer, and educator specializing in socially engaged practice. She holds dual roles as MA Programme Leader at University of Salford's School of Arts, Media and Creative Technologies and Head of Social Practice at Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool. She coordinates the national Socially Engaged Photography Network and maintains freelance curatorial practice through Wewiora and Booth.

Her research at the Art & Design Research Centre focuses on:

• Ethics of participatory practice and collaborative methodologies
• Socially engaged photography as a tool for community representation
• Sustainability models in arts organizations
• Arts-health intersections and relational aesthetics
• Civic responsibilities of cultural institutions

Elizabeth has led residencies and commissions with diverse communities including Age UK, NHS services, youth homelessness organizations, and heritage groups. She holds advisory roles including Board Member for Redeye Photography Network and mentor for Arts Emergency.
