Elizabeth Field

Elizabeth Field is an Assistant Professor in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at the University of Washington. Her academic work bridges geometry, topology, and algebra, with a focus on understanding relationships between surface symmetries and 3-manifold geometry. She teaches foundational and advanced mathematics courses including MATH 300 Foundations of Modern Math and MATH 441 Topology.

Research Focus: Her work explores how topological spaces like 2-dimensional surfaces and 3-dimensional manifolds interact through geometric constructions. By utilizing algebraic tools, she investigates properties such as volume relationships in manifolds built from symmetric surfaces.
