Tao Li

Tao Li is Professor of Mathematics at Boston College, specializing in low-dimensional topology and hyperbolic 3-manifolds. His research focuses on Heegaard splittings, laminar branched surfaces, and developing algorithms for topological classification. Li has made significant contributions to understanding the rank-genus relationship in 3-manifolds and methods for detecting essential surfaces.

He teaches courses including Algebraic Topology and supervises PhD students in topology research.
