Elizabeth Doyle

Elizabeth Doyle, Ph.D., is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biology at James Madison University since 2003. Her expertise bridges plant biology research and innovative science education. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Davis (2001) and a BA in Biology from Macalester College (1993).

Dr. Doyle’s current scholarship focuses on curriculum development, particularly the implementation of Course-embedded Undergraduate Research Experiences (CURE) in first-year biology courses. This initiative integrates authentic DNA barcoding research into foundational coursework, enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. She collaborates with the first-year initiative team to redesign lab curricula emphasizing hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
