Andrea Pesce

Andrea Pesce is a Lecturer in the Department of Biology at James Madison University since 1992. She serves as lab coordinator for introductory biology courses and played a key role in redesigning the 2016 curriculum. Her instructional focus includes evolution, organismal structure/function, and ecology. She leads development of CURE (Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences) labs, coordinating lab materials and instructor training.

Education: M.S. Biology (1982, University of Michigan), B.A. Biology (1979, University of Virginia). She authored numerous lab modules and edited the BIO114 lab manual (2002-2016), with selected materials now part of the Biology Library at Hayden McNeil.

Her work emphasizes integrating authentic research experiences into foundational coursework, fostering student engagement through hands-on genomic analysis projects. This approach has been published in CourseSource and presented through NIBLSE initiatives.
