Eleni Psoma

Eleni Psoma is a Professor of Ancient History at the Department of History and Archaeology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her academic career includes serving as Assistant Professor (2009-2014) and Associate Professor (2014-2018) at the same institution, following a tenure as senior researcher at the National Hellenic Research Foundation (2000-2009).

Her research spans multiple subfields of antiquity, with a focus on material evidence:

• Epigraphy: Study of inscriptions for political and institutional history
• Historical Topography: Reconstruction of ancient landscapes and urban centers
• Institutional History: Examination of federal leagues and civic organizations

Recent publications emphasize the interplay between economic networks and political structures in Hellenistic Thrace and Euboea, with methodological integration of numismatic, epigraphic, and topographic evidence. She has supervised 16 graduate students (14 MA, 2 PhD) and currently mentors 9 PhD candidates and 2 postdoctoral researchers.

Her work contributes to broader understanding of Greek history through interdisciplinary analysis of material culture and textual evidence.
