Elena Mancioppi is a Research Fellow at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, focusing on interdisciplinary research in perception and quality. Her current project explores the sociopolitical role of food flavors and environmental aromatization.
Education: PhD (excellent cum laude) in Ecogastronomy (2022), with a thesis on 'The Olfactive: Towards a Socio-Aesthetics of Smell'.
Research Interests: Aesthetics and philosophy of olfactory perception, sociopolitical implications of food aromas, scent marketing, avant-garde cuisine's use of odors, ecological perception theories, and ethical/epistemological dimensions of smell.
Publications: Authored a monograph on olfactory aesthetics, published journal articles and book chapters, and co-edited a special issue of Rivista di Estetica on smell.
Awards: Recognized with an excellent cum laude distinction for doctoral work.
