About
Dr Eleanor Peirce is a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Anatomy and Pathology at the University of Adelaide's School of Medicine within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. She coordinates the Anatomical Sciences major and teaches courses including Comparative Reproductive Biology of Mammals and Cells and Tissues. Previously, she managed the Bachelor of Health Sciences program (2000–2011), integrating research skill development into curricula. Her PhD (2000) focused on germ cell production in Australian arid zone rodents.
Research interests center on reproductive biology, particularly postcopulatory sexual selection's influence on testis architecture and sperm morphology. She leads the Reproductive Biology Research Group, exploring gamete diversity in Australian mammals and conservation applications through reproductive technology. Current projects investigate ovarian structure in marsupials and testicular adaptations linked to sperm competition.
Publications span Nature and New Scientist, emphasizing comparative studies of reproductive systems. She supervises morphometric analyses of biological specimens and collaborates on interdisciplinary educational initiatives.
