Eiko Torii-Williams

Eiko Torii-Williams is a Senior Lecturer in Japanese at Wellesley College's Department of East Asian Languages & Cultures. She serves as Co-director of the Japanese Program and study abroad advisor for Japan-related programs. Her academic work bridges theoretical and applied aspects of linguistics, with a focus on pedagogical innovations for Japanese language instruction.

Her research focuses on the semantic dimensions of Japanese adverbs and their pedagogical implications, extending to broader interests in second language acquisition, bilingual education, sociolinguistics, and computer-assisted language learning (CALL). She has contributed to curriculum development for Japanese language courses and created a Japanese Teacher Certificate Program in collaboration with Wellesley's Education Department.
