Eftychia Spentzou

Eftychia Spentzou is a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Architectural Design, specializing in building performance modeling, thermal comfort, and energy efficiency. Her research integrates architectural design with computational tools like CFD and dynamic thermal modeling to enhance climate resilience in buildings and combat fuel poverty. She leads projects on extreme heat mitigation in urban environments, retrofitting strategies for residential buildings, and natural ventilation optimization in diverse climates.

Key research areas include low-income housing adaptation to extreme heat, retrofitting in China's hot summer/cold winter zones, and Mediterranean building stock resilience. She has supervised three PhD students focusing on mixed-mode cooling systems, energy-saving retrofits in China, and office ventilation in temperate climates.

Her work spans multi-disciplinary studies combining architectural design with socio-technical systems, emphasizing real-world applications in developing regions and urban sustainability.
