Dr. Edyta Gapska serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Procedure within the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration at the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL). She has held this academic position since 2009, following her appointment as an assistant at the same department from 2007-2009. In addition to her academic role, Dr. Gapska has been practicing as a legal counsel since 2018 and successfully completed judicial apprenticeship at the District Court in Lublin with a "very good" result on her judge's examination (2003-2007).
Dr. Gapska earned her law degree at KUL (1998-2003) followed by doctoral studies at the same institution (2003-2007), during which she defended her doctoral thesis titled "Defects of court judgments in civil proceedings." Her scholarly expertise centers on civil procedural law and consumer law, with extensive contributions to these fields through numerous publications including monographs, commentaries, textbooks, and scholarly articles.
Her research consistently addresses contemporary challenges in civil procedure, with particular emphasis on procedural defects, electronic justice systems, pandemic-related adaptations to civil litigation, and mechanisms to prevent procedural abuse. Dr. Gapska's publications reveal a methodical scholarly approach examining how procedural rules can be optimized for fairness, efficiency, and accessibility within the Polish legal framework.
Dr. Gapska maintains an active presence in the academic legal community as a member of the Scientific Society of Civil Procedural Lawyers and serves as a reviewer for the International Journal of Law and Society and the Legal Review of the Jagiellonian University's TBSP. Her scholarly contributions extend to editorial work, including co-editing the volume "Współczesne przemiany postępowania cywilnego" (Contemporary Changes in Civil Procedure) in 2010.

Dr. Gapska has presented her research at numerous international conferences across Europe, including in Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, demonstrating the international recognition of her scholarly work. Her presentation "Prospects of Online Dispute Resolution in Family Matters" at the Budapest conference in 2015 highlights her engagement with innovative approaches to procedural law.
