Edward Watson is an Associate Fellow at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. He provides strategic support across multiple departments, including Admissions, Careers, Executive Education, and the Dean’s Office. With 35 years of experience in reinsurance and underwriting, he specialized in treaty reinsurance and credit risk, advising global insurers, reinsurers, and governments. He co-sponsored strategic projects in Africa’s rural economies and supports student startups.
Currently, he leads the Swire Chinese Language Foundation to expand Chinese education in the UK and chairs Sensonomic Ltd. He also serves as a council member at Radley College, advises Crédito y Riesgos in Madrid, and founded the Wallace Watson Award at St Catherine’s College, Oxford.
Prior roles include directorships at Indigo Underwriters, Berry Palmer & Lyle, and Watson Robinson & Associates, focusing on credit insurance industry consolidation and privatizations. He retired as Chairman of the British Exploring Society.
