Edward Stanhope is a Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy at Staffordshire University and Co-Programme Director for the MSc Clinical Trials by Distance Learning at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He holds a First-Class Sports Therapy degree from the University of Birmingham (2013), an MA in Teaching and Learning (Distinction, 2019), and an MSc in Clinical Trials (Distinction, 2019). Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the University of Wolverhampton investigating the role of exercise in breast cancer treatment.
Research Interests: Edward focuses on exercise interventions in special populations, particularly cancer patients, cryotherapy applications, trial methodology, and systematic reviews. His projects include the CANdANCE trial assessing dance interventions for breast cancer survivors and the COLD trial evaluating cryo-compression therapy for shoulder proprioception.
Grants & Collaborations: His work is supported by grants from the University of Wolverhampton and involves international collaborations in non-communicable disease research and clinical trial design. He has contributed to developing retention strategies for clinical trials via the ORRCA2 database.
Teaching: At Staffordshire University, he leads undergraduate research modules and teaches courses ranging from clinical anatomy to professional placement in sports therapy.
Labs/Teams: Involved in interdisciplinary teams focusing on cancer rehabilitation and clinical trial methodologies, including collaborations with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
