Hashim Ahmed

Professor Hashim Ahmed is Chair in Urology (Clinical) at Imperial College London's Department of Surgery & Cancer within the Faculty of Medicine. He is an internationally recognized expert in prostate cancer diagnosis, imaging, biopsy, and minimally invasive therapies such as HIFU and cryotherapy. His career spans clinical practice, research, and education, with significant contributions to advancing prostate cancer treatment methodologies globally.

• Current Positions: Chair of Urology (2017–present), Consultant Urological Surgeon, Director of Wellcome PRISM Programme, Lead of NHS England RAPID Pathway Programme.
• Committee Roles: Chair of ICTU-Surgery Trials Forum, Executive Committee Member of European Association of Urology Research Foundation, Chair of Localised Disease Subgroup (NCRI Prostate CSG), Consulting Editor and Editorial Board member.

Grants: £6M as principal applicant (including £2.1M Wellcome Trust Senior Clinical Research Fellowship) and £8M as co-applicant. Previously held a £1.2M MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship.

Leadership: Directs the Wellcome Trust Prostate Research in Imaging and Surgical Methodology (PRISM) Programme and leads multicentre trials (PROMIS, INDEX, FORECAST). Has trained dozens of surgeons internationally.
