- MA in Painting, Royal College of Art
Edward's research centers on painting and photography, particularly their interplay in representing overlooked or abandoned landscapes. He investigates how narrative is constructed in visual media, focusing on the tension between the mundane and the abstract. His work draws on theoretical concepts such as Andreas Gursky’s idea of the 'opposite of authenticity,' emphasizing how banal or hidden environments generate unique visual energy. He integrates collage and constructed elements into abstract compositions, using unexpected color relationships and found materials to create layered meanings. His artistic practice explores the dialogue between recognizable fragments—such as typography or found images—and abstract visual languages.
While no recent articles are listed, his exhibited works reflect a consistent engagement with themes of place, perception, and materiality in contemporary art.
Scientific Awards:
- VC Distinguished Teaching Award (2009)
Edward has exhibited widely, including in London and Antwerp, and continues to contribute to art education and research. He is actively involved in academic and artistic communities, with a professional presence maintained through his blog and university profile. There is no indication of retirement or emeritus status, and he remains an active faculty member.
