Dr. Edward Coleman is an Assistant Professor in the School of History at University College Dublin (UCD). He specializes in the political and social history of medieval and Renaissance Italy, particularly the northern Italian city-states during the 12th-13th centuries. His research focuses on civic identity, conflict resolution, and the Crusades' impact on Italy and Ireland. He coordinates interdisciplinary projects such as 'Late Medieval Ireland and Europe' and serves as Secretary of the Dublin Medieval Society. Dr. Coleman holds an M.A. from the University of Glasgow and a D.Phil. from Oxford, with postdoctoral research at the British School at Rome.
