Gregory Bell

Dr. Gregory Bell is Associate Professor and History Department Chair at Winthrop University. He earned his Ph.D. in Medieval History from Duke University following undergraduate studies at the College of Wooster.

His research specializes in Mediterranean cultural interactions from Antiquity through the Middle Ages, particularly crusade logistics and Venetian-Byzantine exchanges. Bell authored 'Logistics of the First Crusade: Acquiring Supplies Amid Chaos' (2020) and publishes on 11th-13th century Mediterranean encounters.

He teaches World History, Crusade History, and Mediterranean studies courses, emphasizing cross-cultural dynamics between Western Europe, Islamic societies, and Byzantine empires.
