Edward Bispham is Tutorial Fellow in Ancient History at Brasenose College and Lecturer in Ancient History at University of Oxford. Holding BA, MA, and D.Phil. degrees from Oxford, his research focuses on Italian archaeology, Roman Republican history, and early Roman historiography. He co-directed the Sangro Valley Project (1999-2012) and collaborates with Italian universities on archaeological projects in Abruzzo.
Bispham teaches Greek and Roman history papers across Oxford's Classics curricula. Current research projects include 'Italian Power', 'The Lungs of Savage Dis', and 'Law and Life in Pompeii'. His publications examine topics ranging from the Social War to Latin migration patterns. As Vice-Principal of Brasenose College until 2024, he contributes to institutional leadership alongside research and teaching.
