Edo Omerčević is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the International University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the same institution in 2016. His roles include directing the Center for Public Policies and Economic Analyses, the first free-market think tank in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and serving as a Fellow at the Islam and Liberty Network, an international organization promoting religious, economic, and political freedoms among Muslims. Prior to academia, he held positions in banking, management, and consulting across multiple countries including Bosnia, Malaysia, Qatar, and Kuwait.
His research focuses on public policy analysis, economic freedom indices, and the intersection of Islam with democratic and market-oriented systems. Notable works include the Islam and Liberty Index and municipal performance evaluations in Bosnia. He has authored/co-authored reports on topics ranging from education voucher systems to governance metrics in OIC countries. His academic contributions emphasize empirical analysis of Muslim societies’ democratic values and policy reforms in post-conflict regions.
Dr. Omerčević’s professional background combines academic teaching with practical experience in financial sectors and civil society initiatives. He actively contributes to policy debates through think tank leadership and international network collaborations, bridging theoretical economics with real-world governance challenges.
