Edgar Hirschmann is a Lecturer in Political Theory at the University of Bamberg, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics, and Business Administration. His research focuses on biopolitics, political aesthetics, and the body's role in societal structures. He holds a Master's in Philosophy and Sociology from Goethe University Frankfurt and Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. Hirschmann has conducted research at RWTH Aachen University and was a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University and Duke University.
His work critically examines pandemic society’s political dimensions, colonial thought patterns, and the intersections of aesthetics with biopolitical power. Recent publications include On viruses, masks, and the new political body (2021), analyzing pandemic-era societal dynamics through a biopolitical lens. Hirschmann’s research also engages Foucault’s theories and explores ethical dimensions in financial systems.
